October 28, 2009 WWWA General Membership Meeting Minutes
WWWA General Membership Meeting – 10/28/09 at Ricardo’s Mexican Restaurant in Factoria
Meeting called to order at 7:30 pm by Mary Downing
In attendence: Bill Davenport, Janis Castle, Heather Nichols, Kerie Swepston, Mary Downing, Beth Levine, Peggy Hewes and Jeanette Dorsey.
Secretary Report- Minutes of the last Meeting to be approved as printed on the Web site. Motion Peggy, 2nd Beth, approved.
Treasurer Report (Janis) – Balance $6527.95 main account, $815.06 rescue account. Bike is paid in full and waiting for the Title to be sent by Al Gersich to Janis.
Membership- Motion by Peggy to change the requirments for becoming a club member in the Standing rules to- applicants must attend a meeting or major club event, be published on the Web site then have 1 reading at a club meeting and approved by vote of the membership. 2nd by Janis and approved.
Readings for applicants Tom & Jewel Holt and Karren & John Pynsia, and voted in as members.
Reading for Chadd and Misti Bowen, to be published on the Web site and voted on at a later meeting.
Show Committee (Mary) – a show committee was held on 10/17- we needed to comfirm the status of one sweeps judge and choose another sweeps judge for 2010- Carla Badick was confrimed as a sweeps judge and Todd Miller is being contacted as our other sweeps judge- next show committee meeting will be held a Mary’s after judging of the Whidbey show, more info to follow, there will also be a puppy evaluation of Mary’s 8 week litter.
Lure/ Race Committee (Beth) - The Lure trial was a great weekend, looking to next year the spring date in April is too close to the Whippet National and too many workers are going, so the the committee is looking at other posibilities for that weekend, discussion ensued. The committee will continue to look at their options. Beth moved that in the ASFA/Lure coursing standing rule the line “No member may judge Whippets” be removed. 2nd by Mary, approved
Discussion of LGRA’s involvment in our oval and straight racing. LGRA is for breeds other then Whippets. We must continue with this program through 2010 but need to mentor another group to take over and learn the paper work so they can pick up in 2011 but with our support.
Old Business
Just a reminder that the Christmas Party will be a Duke’s Chowder House in the Southcenter area on Dec 5th.
The Slate for 2010 was amended to the following with Gail Dunbar unable fulfil the postion of Secretary, the alternate Heather Nichols will step in to that positon pending election.
The Slate was read as follows:

Floor was opened for nominations three times, no nominations received.
The Slate will be voted on at the next general membership meeting.
