Board Meeting called to order by Peggy Hewes, President at 7:05 pm on 1/27/2010 at Duke’s Chowder House in Southcenter.

In Attendance- Janis Castle, Mary Downing, Peggy Hewes, Susan Manthou, Helen Brettell, Gail Dunbar, David Cassell, Shirley Konizeski, Jeanette Dorsey, Kerie & Aaron Swepston,  Heather Nichols, Kendra Tripp.  Guest: Erika Parton.   Also, Jagur Swepston, Jade Swepston, Hannah Nichols, Kaitlyn Nichols.

Secretary’s Report:

  • Minutes moved to be accepted as submitted on the website.

Treasurer’s Report:

  • We currently have a $6700.00 balance in our club checkbook.
  • Discussed an outstanding bill not received from Erin Campbell our sweeps judge from our specialty this past August.
  • We have several outstanding membership dues.  Janis will be sending out email reminders.

Show Committee Report:

  • There will be a show committee meeting held on 2/7/2010 directions can be found on the club website.  The Show Committee is looking for suggestions for future judges for our specialty.  Also, looking for compliance ideas.

Performance Report:

  • We will be one ASFA meet down this year due to a schedule conflict with overlapping weekends of the AWC National.
  • Looking to schedule a work party to work on boxes.
  • Need to replace pulleys several are broken.  Lure machine needs the motor rebuilt and new string is needed as well.
  • David Cassell and Shirley Konizeski have raised $277 from the practices they run at Frohning’s Farm.  The need 5 pulleys @ $35 each.  Plus a $60 refit.
  • Mary Downing made a motion for the club to spend up to $400 in order for the performance committee to purchase necessary equipment to run their practices and meets.  Helen Brettell 2nds the motion.  Motion carries.

Property Report:

  • Aaron Swepston to inventory pulleys.
  • Shirley Konizeski to contact Greyhound club to see if we can purchase their club’s pulley’s that we have been storing.
  • We have 3 canopies that belong to the club.
  • We still do not have the title to the club’s bike.
  • Peggy Hewes is in possession of the club’s TV/Video player and would like to transfer the club’s video’s to a DVD.
  • Kendra Tripp moved to donate the TV/Video player to charity.  Jeanette Dorsey 2nds and motion carried.
  • Peggy Hewes, President is asking all club members to inventory any club property that you are in possession of and send your inventory list to Aaron Swepston.

Hospitality Report:

  • Awards dinner is coming up soon.  Watch the website for when and where.  The application is up on the website and the deadline is 2/15/2010; please send to Jeanette Dorsey as soon as possible.  The club is always looking for new awards; if you have any ideas please contact Jeanette.

Card Lady Report:

  • The club is looking into establishing a memorial page to add to our website.
  • Ann Billups husband Bob Billups died this past week.  Our club will dedicate our specialty this summer in his honor.

Rescue Report:

  • Mary Downing is aware of an adult whippet that needs to be rehomed due to not liking small children and the family has a new baby.

Ways and Means:

  • Jeanette Dorsey is looking for donations for auction at our specialty.

Website Report:

  • No report.

Membership Report:

  • No new applications at this point.

Old Business:

  • It has been twelve years since our club’s books have been audited.  Kerie Swepston and Helen Brettell have volunteered.

New Business:

  • Christine Hopperstad will be putting together an ad for the AWC Annual representing our club.
  • Jeanette Dorsey will contact Sandy Rolf regarding obtaining a trophy for our BOB award for specialty this August.
  • Two committees without chairs:
    • Education Program
    • Historian: Update Shirley Konizeski has volunteered to fill this position.

Budget:

  • Specialty Budget was even with expenditures of $8,567.50 and income of $8,567.50
  • Membership $65
  • Hospitality budget is $100 for the club picnic and $200 for the Christmas party.  Totaling $300.
  • Awards banquet estimated expense $400.
  • Card Lady $17 for E-cards and $25 for postage and stationary.  Totaling $42.

Goals:

  • Ways and means has a goal of $1000 with an expenditure of $100 which would net a profit of $900.
