On Monday we celebrate 15 yrs. with Monika, along with her brother Am. Can. Ch. Whimsy’s Hahnenkamm, owned by Anne Jacobs. Am. Can. Ch. Val d’Isere has crossed the Rainbow Bridge along with Whimsy’s Courchevel and Whimsy’s Innsbrook, both pointed in the ring.

Monika, the matriarch at Whimsy, is dam to Am.Can.Ch. Whimsy’s Speedwell, Am. Can. Ch. Whimsy’s Pipsissewa, Ch. Whimsy’s Water Lily, and Am. Can. Ch. Whimsy’s New Way to Fly (from 2 litters) and not to be forgotten – our Ambassador of the Breed: Whimsy’s Sweet Pea (Tyler).

The local folks from Washington, Oregon made up for most of the entries but we made new friends (The Jones’) from San Diego, CA that made our event even more special.  Our vet Dr. Carl Conroy from Mid Columbia Veterinary Clinic came to see just what all these whippets that come into his clinic do.  He was so impressed with all the wonderful whippets, and dedicated dog people it has made a difference in his attitude toward the “Whippet Athlete”.   His last statement before he left was.  “Boy those dogs are fast”.

Oh, and Glen and I have a special brag… Our Shadow Run Marco is a new ORC as of Saturday when he tied for 1st place with his brother Kelp, with OB in the third place position and DJ in 4th

Our next Double NOTRA is June 5th & 6th and we want to extend an invitation to our friends in WWWA to come on over to the land of sunshine, and have fun with us.

Nacho may be out with toe injuries, but his kids are picking up the slack.  The weather was horrible with wind going sideways, and rain hard as pebbles.  One HP rain came down on us like all the hounds of hell were entered. On Sunday’s WWRC NOTRA, March 21st, Nacho’s kids, Kelp won the meet with 3 National Points and Marco took the second place spot and earning 3 ORC points, and 1 National point.  Kelp is already an ORC and Marco has 9.5 points out of the 15 he needs towards his ORC title.   Fantastic job boys. Not only that but OB and DJ were in the Top Ten too.

Glen and I couldn’t be more proud of this litter bred by our good friend Chris Kirschbaum.

Another note on our Nacho’s Rock & Roll Litter,  Little Peggy Sue has moved to Tennessee and now lives with Marc Dailey and family.  She will be competing at the South Carolina clubs and later she will be racing in Florida’s  JAX.  Mack and Johnny will have their FTE here in Goldendale April 17th/18th,  We want to welcome all who like to do NOTRA’s to come on over and play on our back yard.

On a Hot July Sunday in Molalla, a lot of Hot racing was on the schedule.  And Shadow Run had 3 whippets entered.  OB, (Top Ten National Standings)  DJ, (new ORC)   All finished in the Top Ten,  but our new boy from the Nacho/Ada litter  was an FTE, and now has ORC points.  We are very proud of this first time entered boy.  Congratulations Marco.

For close to 15 years Glen and I have competed and maybe came out with 1 or two points for all the whippets we had. We mostly lure coursed, but became more attracted to the Racing Whippet events in 2005.  We have worked hard to maintain type, but function is what we strive to improve.

OB!

With 26 whippets entered and a bright warm sunny weekend of, swimming and just relaxing, Sunday’s NOTRA started out with a bang.   Gary’s Bar B Q was wonderful with Prime Rib, Ham, Chicken roasted on a spit.  And all the side dishes made for a lot of happy folks.  (Happy 4th of July)

We had entries from Oregon, Washington, Canada and the racing was hot too.  We found out there were a lot of whippets that like to swim.  The cooling pool and walk through mister helped a lot.

Glen and I want to thank all who made the trip and volunteered to help put on this weekends festivities without you it couldn’t have been done.

And Elliott made us just as happy this past week when the light bulb came on and he started chasing the lure – well, the buggy whip with a plastic bag and fake fur tied to the end of it. Now, if we can just manage to find time in our busy schedules to make it to a practice, we will see if this new found enthusiasm translates to the real thing. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!
