Serendipity 2010

2010 began with our biggest news of the year... In February, Lark (CanCH Serendipity Skylark, AmFCH, DPC, TRPX, SR, OTR) was bred to the handsome and athletic AmCH Shamasan Hound Hill Cherokee, ARX, DPCX, RN, and delivered nine beautiful redheads on April 22. Our spring and summer were devoted to raising the litter, getting to know prospective puppy buyers, and entertaining puppy visitors. Two of these puppies stayed here at Serendipity, and the rest settled into their wonderful new homes across the US and Canada. I can't thank Susan and Jim Bolduc, Cora Miller, and Phoebe Booth enough for allowing me to use Chili, and especially for their unforgettable hospitality during our visit to Hound Hill. Aside from raising the litter, the other highlight of our year was attending the CWA National hosted by Racing For Fun in Abbotsford, BC in August. The puppies made their official debuts in the big Annual match held the first day of the National weekend and, at the tender age of not quite 4 months, Jonah (Serendipity On A Lark), earned Best Puppy honors under judge Karen Lee of Surrey Hill whippets. It was an auspicious debut for this promising puppy and a very a proud moment for me as his breeder. His sister Seven (Serendipity Hark The Lark) was second in her big puppy bitch class to the eventual BOS puppy. Both of these puppies, along with their brother Hokum (Serendipity Malarkey at Whimsy, owned by Mary Downing of Whimsy Whippets, and AKC pointed from the puppy class at his very first show!) are keen on the lure and progressing nicely in their race training. Look for all three in 2011!

Our youngster Branwen (Shamasan Caerbannog) tucked some more good racing experience under her belt and earned several CWA top-ten placements along the way. A very reluctant show dog, she surprised me by becoming a match winner her very first time shown in the CWA matches! She also made her lure coursing debut and is ASFA pointed.

We are blessed by the continued good health and good spirits of our retirees: 13 year old matriarch Wren (CanCH Priory HH Silver Lining, AmCD, AmFCH, OTRM, CGC, AV), 10 year old Nori (HH To The Lighthouse, FCH, OTR, who now lives with the Yockey family of Everett, WA), 9 year old Ringer (CanCH HH Serendipity Eight Bells, LCM, TRP, DPC, SR, OTRM-2, CGC), and newly retired 7 year old Kestrel (Serendipity Sparrowhawk, FCH, OTR, CGC).
