There might not be any litters to announce, show wins to share, race points or titles to brag about but 2013 was another year of awesomeness in our household. We sweet talked our Auntie Chelsea into two new extra large fuzzy blankets which, with a little determined digging, make perfect nests on the couch. Don’t laugh, it’s very important to be comfortable when one spends an inordinate amount of time on said couch. We also have figured out if we make it to bed first, we can claim the best spots and mom will somehow fit around us. Now, we were not completely lazy. Every night we took mom for a nice walk through the neighborhood and allowed her to throw toys for us (aren’t we nice?). Although we are past our racing prime, we did get to go to Roy and occasionally run as a test dog or practice. Somehow that never gets old!
At home, we were successful at keeping the resident squirrel population under control and willingly stamped out the occasional spider who dared to make it into the house. We also de-stuffed and de-squeaked a record number of toys this year (much to mother’s annoyance) but somehow the toy basket continued to regenerate. It’s amazing!
2014 already is looking promising. A rather small bunny moved into the back yard and has since grown into a larger lure….er, bunny. Unfortunately it can still fit under the fence and is living in a part of the yard we can only stare at from the window. One of these days that rabbit will make a mistake and our dreams will come true.
Here’s to livin’ the whippet dream in 2014!
